William Newton McKinney.  [Notes and Descendants] Born December 23, 1848 in Cleveland, Bradley County, TN.  He was the only son of Burnice Newton McKinney and Mary Jane "Polly" Stamper.  He died October 12, 1923 and was buried in Cleveland, Tennessee.  He married Charlotta Delsenia York (not pictured) on September 2, 1870 and they had ten children.

This is a photo that was made in September 1908.  The date September 28, 1908 is handwritten on the back of the photo.  The names (in the left column) are exactly as spelled by my grandfather, Charlie Asa McKinney, and are in his handwriting (spelling was not his strong point).  To the right I have entered the more conventional spellings and an ID of who is in the picture.

Katty Barnett            I think this was a friend as the Barnett name does not appear in any of our McKinney databases as far as I know.

My grandfather, Charlie McKinney told me that the Owenbys were cousins.  We still have not confirmed the relationship between Anna America York and Charlotta Delsenia York.  Charlotta was my g-grandmother and Anna America York married Granville Owenby and was the mother of the Owenbys in the picture.  Anna America appears in other photos with McKinneys but she does not appear as a child with the family of James York who was the father of Charlotta York.  She is a real puzzle.  Wish my grandfather was still alive as I am sure he would know who was who.  He was really into family stuff.  Also curious as to why Lota Daniels, wife of Tom McKinney was in the photo but Tom McKinney was not there.
