Mildred McKinney Gee was born 15 September 1914, Shelby, North Carolina. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1930 and from Duke University in 1934, taught five years at Lattimore High School, Lattimore, North Carolina, married in 1939 Felix O. Gee, Secretary-Treasurer of Dacotah Cotton Mills, Lexington, North Carolina, and has lived in Lexington since that time. The Gees are the parents of two daughters and grandparents of two boys.
